Description:The movie begins with four people dressed in painters' clothes entering a bank in Manhattan. Once in position, the bank robbers take about 50 customers hostage and head for the vault. NYPD hostage negotiator Detective Keith Frazier (Denzel Washington) arrives on the scene and makes contact with the masked man in charge of the heist, Dalton Russell (Clive Owen). Detective Frazier wants to get all the hostages safely released as quickly as possible, in a peaceful manner. However, Russell has other plans; he begins playing a cat-&-mouse game to delay the police, and he outwits and confuses the police at every turn. Madeliene White (Jodie Foster), with the help of the mayor, bargains with Detective Frazier to let her talk to the bank robbers in an attempt to resolve the situation. Madeliene wants to make a deal with the robbers; if they give up and let her get something out of her client's safe deposit box, they will get a short jail term and million when they get out. Descrierea:Filmul se centreaza pe o poveste detectivistica a carei premiza este jefuirea unei banci si retinerea unui ostatic, ce-i aduce fata in fata pe detectivul Keith Miller (Washington), pe rationalul criminal interpretat de Owen si pe influenta avocata (Foster) ce face dovada unor misterioase relatii. Un joc de-a soarecele cu pisica, in care granita dintre bine si rau se diminueaza din ce in ce mai mult, pana cand cele doua tind sa se confunde. Filmul reprezinta cea de-a doua colaborare a lui Washington cu regizorul Spike Lee, dupa Malcolm X din 1992.
Patru oameni costumati in zugravi intra in sediul unei banci din Manhattan si iau ostatici cele 50 de persoane din interior atunci cand apare politia. Keith Frazier si Bill Mitchell sunt trimisi sa negocieze eliberarea ostaticilor, dar situatia se complica pentru ca Dalton Russel, seful jefuitorilor, este un tip extrem de calm, inteligent si care are totul sub control. Frazier incepe sa inteleaga ca in spatele afacerii se ascunde ceva mult mai mare, dar presiunea publicului si a sefilor este prea mare. Si cum situatia nu era destul de tensionata, Medeline White, o avocata misterioasa si influenta, cere o intalnire privata cu Russel.
