Singura conditie care poate prelungi acest fatidic termen este ca Chev sa-si mentina organismul intr-o alerta permanenta, intrucat adrenalina impiedica otrava sa ajunga la inima. Este o lupta contracronometru, in care barbatul trebuie sa-i inlature pe toti cei care ii stau impotriva, in incercarea de a descoperi cine l-a condamnat la aceasta moarte lenta, de a-si salva iubita de pericolul in care se gaseste si, nu in ultimul rand, de a gasi antidotul pentru otrava care ii fuge prin vene.
